About this tool
Decode a JSON Web Token's header, payload and expiry.
Paste a JWT to see its header and payload as readable JSON, with issued-at and expiry times converted to dates and a clear expired/valid badge. Decoding happens locally — tokens are never sent to a server.
How to use it
- 01Paste your token (header.payload.signature).
- 02Read the decoded header and payload.
- 03Check the iat / exp dates and expiry status.
Readable claims
Pretty-printed JSON with human dates.
Expiry check
Instantly see if a token is expired.
Local only
Safer than pasting tokens into random sites.
Frequently asked questions
Does it verify the signature?
No. It decodes only. Signature verification requires the secret or public key and should happen on your server.
Is it safe to paste production tokens?
Decoding is local, but treat live tokens as secrets and prefer expired or test tokens.
What is base64url?
A URL-safe variant of base64 used by JWTs; it replaces + and / with - and _ and drops padding.
