Almost all clicks on Google go to the first page of results. The good news: ranking isn't magic, and you don't need an agency to start. You need to understand what Google rewards — and do the basics better than your competitors.
How Google decides who's first
- Crawl — Googlebot discovers your pages by following links and sitemaps.
- Index — it reads and stores what each page is about.
- Rank — for each search, it orders pages by how well they satisfy the searcher: relevance, content quality, trust (links, reviews, expertise) and page experience.
SEO is not tricking Google. It's making it obvious that your page is the best answer.
Step 1 — Find what people actually search
You call it “bespoke visual identity design”. Your customers type “logo designer near me”. Rank for their words, not yours.
- Google autocomplete: start typing your service and note the suggestions.
- “People also ask” and related searches at the bottom of the results page.
- Search Console → Performance: queries you already appear for (gold for existing sites).
- Prefer specific long-tail phrases (“wedding photographer in Marrakech”) over broad ones (“photographer”) — less competition, buyers with intent.
Step 2 — Win the click
Ranking is half the job; the other half is being clicked. Your <title> and meta description are your free ad on Google. Fix the weak example below yourself — or press the magic button and compare.

- No filler (“Home”, “Welcome”, “Click here”)
Quick check
Which title is most likely to rank and get clicks for “emergency plumber casablanca”?
Step 3 — Write the best answer on the internet
Open the current top 5 results for your keyword. Your page must be clearly more useful than them:
- Answer the question in the first lines, then go deeper.
- Structure: one
H1, descriptiveH2sections, short paragraphs, lists. - Show experience: real photos, prices, case studies, your own examples — things AI-spun content can't fake.
- Answer follow-up questions in a FAQ section.
- Link internally to related pages with descriptive anchor text.
This blog follows those rules — every lesson has a direct answer, interactive visuals and a FAQ. Even its topics come from what people search, like what happens when you type a URL.
Step 4 — Technical SEO basics
Make sure Google can see you
- HTTPS and a mobile-friendly layout.
- Real HTML content — not text that appears only after JavaScript runs (see rendering strategies).
- A sitemap.xml and a robots.txt that doesn't block important pages.
- Fast pages with good Core Web Vitals.
- Descriptive image alt text and clean URLs (
/services/logo-design, not/page?id=7).
Add structured data
Structured data helps Google understand your page and can unlock rich results (stars, prices, breadcrumbs):
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "LocalBusiness",
"name": "My Studio",
"url": "https://mystudio.com",
"telephone": "+212-600-000000",
"address": { "@type": "PostalAddress", "addressLocality": "Marrakech", "addressCountry": "MA" },
"aggregateRating": { "@type": "AggregateRating", "ratingValue": "4.9", "reviewCount": "87" }
}Submit to Google Search Console
- Add your domain at search.google.com/search-console and verify it (DNS record).
- Submit
https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xmlunder Sitemaps. - Paste key URLs into URL Inspection → Request indexing.
- Check Pages for “not indexed” errors every few weeks.
Step 5 — Earn trust and links
A link from another reputable site is a vote of confidence. Quality beats quantity: one link from a respected local news site beats 1,000 spammy directory links (which can hurt you).
- Get listed by partners, suppliers, associations and relevant directories.
- Create something worth linking to: a free tool, a guide, original data, a great lesson.
- Offer expert quotes to journalists and bloggers in your field.
- Keep your name, address and phone identical everywhere online.
Bonus — Local SEO for small businesses
For “near me” searches the map pack appears above normal results. To get in it, claim and complete your free Google Business Profile: correct category, opening hours, real photos, services, and — above all — regular reviews you reply to.
